A manhunt is underway in the bay area for an inmate who fought off deputies and escaped. The inmate apparently faked an injury to be taken to Valley Medical Center in san jose. That is where he slipped past deputies. With search dogs and helicopters overhead police searched the perimeter near the hospital for janel carter. It is not clear if carter planned his escape or had help on the outside. We will go back and do investigation work, and see if it was a planned escape.
