ITHACA, NY Even though school is out, fun activities and learning opportunities for kids abound during the summer months in Ithaca.Â
The Sciencenter, the Museum of the Earth, and the Cayuga Nature Center are among some of the local institutions that offer both educational and interactive programming during the summer to children. Although some COVID-induced modifications still linger, with summer in full swing and easing pandemic restrictions, these centers have seen both increased visitation and enthusiasm in the past few weeks.Â
While the Sciencenterâs doors have been open to the public for almost the entirety of the pandemic, summer 2021 operations and crowds look much different than the previous months. With the exception of a mask requirement and a few exhibits that remain closed, the Sciencenter is operating normally for summer 2021.Â
ITHACA, NY Museum of the Earth has announced a new community initiative, Pay-What-You-Wish weekends. These weekends will take place on the first weekend of each month, beginning with the weekend of March 6â7.Â
When registering for a ticket, visitors will be able to choose from a donation range as their admission price.Â
The hope of these weekends is to provide accessibility to our community and share our understanding of the systems of the Earth and its life. Visitors can experience our new exhibit, Changing Climate: Our Future, Our Choice, along with our other permanent exhibitions.Â
Our upcoming special exhibition, Daring to Dig: Women in American Paleontology, will open March 27.Â
