grove. the summer solstice happened today. on our last day of spring, it felt like summer. we also had summer-like weather. flooding rain and lightning. several buildings hit by lightning including an apartment building in rockville and a house in gainesville. several thousand utility customers without power this morning. no one was injured in the storms and much drier weather on the way for father s day. we still have lingering flooding out there. these are flood warnings that are still in effect for a couple of our local creeks and streams. this is not a widespread event, but we have lingering flooding in southern frederick county and also in eastern fairfax county. but we do expect those floodwater to recede and all our creeks run to normal by mid-morning today. much drier today, but we can t rule out an isolated thunderstorm in the afternoon or early evening. and high temperatures today are going to push into the 90s through the entire metro area. current temperature is 7
