pakistan. pakistan is they re terrorists towards afghanistan. now they re celebrating the taliban victory, not just pakistan, but there are some other extremist groups around the world, they re also celebrating taliban victory. so russian embassy is open. united embassy is shut down. it s significant to hear you say you regret voting for president biden because of what has happened of the action and inaction, in your view, especially for those still left there who aided americans. chris, i wonder what you think of the plea from congressman seth moulton, democratic from massachusetts, in the last week and in the last hour of the program saying deal with the paperwork later, get them out, get these people out. you re nodding. are you in agreement with that? that s exactly what we have to do. we need to get as many of these people who have risked their
joining me democratic congressman jimmy panetta. he was deployed to afghanistan in 2007 as an intel officer in the u.s. navy reserve. awarded the bronze starr. thank you for taking the time this morning. thank you, jim. i appreciate this opportunity. first i want to ask you, given your personal experience there having served in afghanistan to see it end this way, do you feel that the sacrifice you and your fellow service members made were in v vain? i think you ve got to realize there are, what, 175,000 men and women in uniform that served. each and every service member is going to have their own feelings. i was assigned to a special operations task force that basically focused on counterterrorism. we completed our mission. i m proud of my mission, proud of every single troop that served and sacrificed in afghanistan. but clearly seeing these images that are coming out of afghanistan at this point is absolutely disappointing,
who look at washington and say, nobody here wants to do henwood. it s been 18 years and yesterday anything, nobody wants to get would have been your 27th anything done, they just want to pretend like they re getting wedding anniversary. something done and then just joining me democratic stay in power. what do you say to those who say congressman max rhodes on the to the democrats, hey, i don t homeland and veteran affairs think you really want to work with the president because if you do work with him on any committee. legislation, you give him a win that hurts your prospects heard thanks for having me so you most cynical you should go into the country and talk to people. just think about that moment when nancy pelosi and chuck schumer went to the white house with an infrastructure plan tailored to his demands and blew the whole things up in whatever represent staten island and parts of brooklyn and grew up in bay ridge. what does this mean to you and those you represent? y
the focus of the democratic party, more of the candidates will say, is on beating donald trump. is this a good look for the democratic party? is thissing the rig the right p 2020? i think we have to take a step back actually, because having just worked on a campaign for stacey say brabrams in 2018 issue is a little bit different. when we talk about expanding medicaid, when we talk about common sense gun measures, those issues poll pretty well. most americans don t see that as a far left issue. there s child care, which senator warren has been talking
and mined it off of internet donations. that shows you he has this real grassroots energy behind him. i think that becomes the problem. i think many republicans hope the problem for democrats is that the grassroots energy in this party right now is from the very far left who is supporting essentially a social candidate and it will pull the entire primary debate far to the left, making it harder to win in a general election when your real task will be appealing to the big broader middle of the american electorate. when you raise this type of money, the signal it sends is that bernie sanders is going to be in this race for the lanong haul. this ensures that if you want to beat him, you re going to have to beat him right now.
