NEW DELHI: More deaths from COVID-19 took place on Friday according to municipal records vis-a-vis the figures reported by the city government, North Delhi Mayor Jai Prakash claimed on Saturday.
According to the official data shared by the health department, 141 fatalities were reported on April 16.
The North Delhi mayor, however, claimed that the death count from COVID-19 was 193 on Friday .
According to cremations and burials performed of COVID-19 victims, the number of fatalities stands at 193, he claimed. ....

Delhi government adds 718 new COVID-19 beds in 11 hospitals

New Delhi [India], April 14 (ANI): In view of the surge in COVID-19 cases in the national capital, the Delhi government has added 718 new COVID-reserved beds in 11 hospitals.
This is the fourth time the Delhi government has increased the number of beds in hospitals in the last 15 days.
The total number of COVID-reserved beds in these hospitals has gone up to 5,221.
The number of ICU beds and ventilators have also been increased in hospitals.
There were 628 ventilators in these hospitals and 28 more ventilators have been added.
With the addition of 187 ICU beds, the total number of ICU beds in the national capital will reach 874. ....

Delhi news live: Covid positivity rate jumps to 13.1%, hospital beds running out
The daily tally of Covid-19 breached all records on Tuesday with the city reporting 13,468 new cases in 24 hours. This is the third-highest in the country, after Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, both of which are much bigger in area and population size than the national capital. Earlier, on Sunday and Monday, Delhi had recorded 10,774 and 11,491 new cases, respectively. The city also recorded 81 deaths due to Covid-19. It is the highest since December 3 when 82 deaths were recorded. Due to the massive rise in cases, the hospitals are overwhelmed. Data on real-time availability of Covid beds shows 64% of the total beds are occupied. The occupancy of Covid ICU beds with and without ventilator stands at 90% and 82%, respectively. Delhi govt declares 14 private hospitals fully Covid facilities | Delhi News

NEW DELHI: Amid an exponential surge in Covid cases, Delhi government on Monday declared 14 private hospitals as full Covid facilities and increased the number of beds in other private hospitals from 50% to 60%, adding 2,060 Covid beds.
Another 593 beds were created in six government hospitals, including Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital, Burari Hospital, Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital and Ambedkar Nagar Hospital, all fully Covid hospitals.
Delhi reported 11,491 new Covid cases in the past 24 hours and the number of active cases has crossed 38,000, challenging the existing healthcare infrastructure. The situation regarding the occupancy and availability of Covid beds was assessed in a meeting chaired by chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday. ....
