San Bernardino County reports 2,572 new COVID-19 cases, one death

Palm Springs Desert Sun San Bernardino County on Wednesday reported 2,572 new coronavirus cases and one additional virus-related death since Tuesday. The county has now reported 111,518 cases and 1,208 virus-related deaths since the pandemic began. A total of 97,958 of those COVID-19 patients have recovered. Home to about 2.2 million people, San Bernardino County is the state s fifth-most populous county but continues to record the second-highest number of cases in California. San Bernardino County is home to 5.5% of the state s residents but 7.8% of the state s reported COVID-19 cases. San Bernardino County saw an increase of 12 hospitalized COVID-19 patients since Tuesday, raising its total to 996. Of those, 216 are being cared for in intensive care units, an increase of four since Tuesday. That total comprises 42.4% of the county s occupied ICU beds.
