Royal succession battles in the Eastern Cape negatively affect the stability of traditional leadership in the province and delay development and service delivery, according to premier Oscar Mabuyane.
The town, on the Orange River in the Karoo, was established in 1963 in an attempt to preserve Afrikaner culture. It has a population of almost 2,000 people and its own currency - the Ora.
The Afrikaner community of Orania is set to visit AmaBhele kaJamangile in the Eastern Cape in September if things go according to plan. This comes after a visit to Orania by the office of the head of diplomatic services in the Jamangile kaMabandla’s royal family this week. Orania is an Afrikaner town in the Northern Cape that was founded in the early 1990s.
