The Claysburg Volunteer Fire Co. is seeking donations to replace its primary fire engine after it suffered mechanical failures while responding to a house fire and is now out of service.
The fire company launched a fundraising campaign on Monday with the goal of raising $375,000 to replace its 1994 International pumper truck.
In a letter sent to businesses seeking donations, officials with the campaign said that every resident and business in the Claysburg community is in jeopardy with the truck out of commission.
“It’s a pretty dire situation,” Rich Allison of Claysburg, who is helping organize the fundraising efforts, said during an interview Monday. ....
