Summer band concerts near season finale The Telegraph FacebookTwitterEmail 3of3 ALTON Conductor Jennifer Shenberger will take the podium in Week 8 of the Alton Municipal Band’s season of Concerts in the Park for two memorable evenings of storytelling and musical collaboration. Designed for young audiences, the eventrs will connect children with recognized arrangements written for some of their favorite motion picture and video game soundtracks, including selections from Walt Disney, Captain America, Pixar, Mister Rogers, Bluey, Star Wars, Toy Story Nintendo, and The Avengers. The program also features two special guests. St. Louis TV/radio personality Heidi Glaus will narrate “Peter and the Wolf” on Thursday, July 29 at 8 p.m. at Riverview Park. Performing Sergei Prokofiev’s music, the Alton Municipal Band will take the audience through an amazing adventure, including special sound effects, as Peter and his friends outwit a mighty wolf.

By Doug Jenkins - WBGZ Radio   After a silent 2020 season, officials with the Liberty Bank Alton Amphitheater are announcing a full 2021 schedule of events. There will be several nights featuring regional music acts, and festivals such as the Alton Expo and Fireworks on the Mississippi will return. One thing that is not on the schedule is a national music act. Last year there was a commitment from Boyz II Men. Alton Amphitheater Commission chairman Robert Stephan tells The Big Z whether or not they get a national act depends on finances. Click here for Stephan s comments For the 2021 season Liberty Bank Amphitheater has added five “Summer Social” events which include popular St. Louis regional bands Boogie Chyld on June 4, Well Hungarians on June 18, Trixie Delight on July 16, dueling pianos from Howl at the Moon on July 30, and one-man band Corey Evitts on August 13. All Summer Social events will feature food and drinks.

Maestro Wm. Shane Williams has kept the 76th season of the symphony on track with concerts that people can enjoy from the comfort and safety of their own home. Williams has created new concerts using pre-recorded selections from past performances. The next one in the season’s offerings, “The Warmth of Music” will be available on the orchestra’s website, https://www.altonsymphonyorchestra.org/, on Sunday, Feb. 21.
