Accused Alpha pharmacy robber sentenced to six years in federal prison

A Rock Island man was sentenced to 72 months and three years of supervised release, for a credit union robbery and interstate transportation of stolen money. WGIL previously reported that 34-year-old Roman T. Lloyd of Rock Island was arrested on the Fourth of July in 2018 for the robbery of the Alpha Pharmacy in May of that year. Lloyd had also been charged for the robbery of a Moline credit union in 2019. Following the robbery, Lloyd fled from police, driving at speeds approaching 100 miles an hour on both highways and residential streets. Police had to use "stop sticks" on five occasions before they were ultimately successful on their sixth attempt. While Lloyd's tires were deflated, law enforcement used a "PIT maneuver" to force the vehicle into a ditch before he was apprehended. Based on this evidence, Chief U.S. District Judge Sara Darrow found that an upward variance from the sentencing guidelines was appropriate because Lloyd had shown a reckless disrega ....
