Like a week ago, when they came from behind to beat the Mountain Airs, the Jets looked good to start the game, but let Southland take the lead, and it wasn’t until the second half before the Jets attempted a fightback. Southland had led 59-49 and when they were up 73-56 at the start of the second half, it looked ominous for the Jets. Manawatū guard Daishon Knight sparked a revival and they closed the game to four points in the fourth quarter, with Southland leading 79-75, but Southland’s Brayden Inger iced a three to kill the Jets’ momentum. ....

The 22-year-old six foot four guard joins Dom Kelman-Poto and Alonzo Burton as confirmed signings for next year’s Sal’s NBL and is yet another player attracted south by the chance to develop his game under the tutelage of Sharks’ coach Rob Beveridge. “When I talked to Bevo (Beveridge) and heard how he wanted to play, the winning culture that he is known for and how he wanted to develop me as a person and as a player, it just ticked all the boxes,” Gillooly said. ....
