Abraham is just one of at least 34,000 Oakland Unified School district students in one of the districts 77 elementary, middle and school highs ready to learn just a week earlier than other districts in the bay area. Coming just 2 1 2 months after a sevenday strike back in may forced Oakland Unified School district students to be out of class more than a week, but eventually an agreement with the Teachers Union and district was reached and students were able to get back to class. Now its a new school year, a fresh start for many students. Oh, my god, im so proud of you. Reporter superintendent Kyla Johnson Trammell says thats exactly why everyone is coming back to school today, including her, who we joined at recess. Im just excited ....
