A discussion of military and civilian National Service programs, from the Brookings Institution, this is just over an hour. 30 seconds. 30 seconds was particularly effective. It is my happy duty to introduce and moderate the second panel. I will begin by introducing myself briefly. I am bill gault, senior fellow in the government studies program at brookings, delighted to be a small cog in the Service Share alliance. Can play a role of facilitating as marc knapper said, facilitating some sort of conversation that helps move this forward and i think that kind of technical conversation im talking about would be something reason for that he was to participate in and could help the dynamic. As you said at the end of the korea and japan had to figure out how to manage this if not resolved it. And they do agree that theres a much bigger set at stake here but im not quite as pessimistic as jim just because i think these things have come and gone. The deep issues are there but i think we have been able in most of the time of recent history or the koreans and japanese have to find a way to work on the things they need to work on and put other things in other compartments. Thats come and gone obviously, but i still am hopeful that theres a way, even if you cant resolve some of the deeper issues, to find a way to Work Together on a shared interest because there are some compelling ones.
