'Walking With Herb': New Mexico movie premieres in Las Cruces


LAS CRUCES – Walking With Herb is now on the big screen. 
The Las Cruces movie, years in the making, was shown for a large audience for the first time Thursday with a red carpet premiere at Amador Live.
“Walking with Herb  filmed in Las Cruces in 2018 is based off the 2015 novel of the same name by Joe Bullock, of First American Bank in Las Cruces. The book was adapted into a screenplay by the late Tony Award winner Mark Medoff, also a longtime New Mexico State University professor, and was directed by Medoff s son-in-law Ross Marks, the executive director of the Las Cruces International Film Festival and NMSU professor. ....

LAS CRUCES – Walking With Herb is now on the big screen.

LAS CRUCES – Allen Theatre’s Telshor 12 is opening for indoor movie screening as of Friday, April 30. The drive-in will be discontinued.
The theater made the announcement after the state’s Red-Yellow-Green-Turquoise framework criteria was amended Wednesday. Indoor movie screenings have been discontinued since the onset of the pandemic in March 2020.
New biweekly goals include having no more than 10 new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people, an average of no more than 7.5% positive COVID-19 tests and a fully vaccinated rate at or above 35%. ....

Congress is in the midst of pushing a new COVID-19 stimulus package and part of that package includes a federal minimum wage increase. The minimum wage has remained at $7.25 since 2009, depending on your state, and movie theater owners are warning that a federal minimum wage increase would be disastrous for their business in the wake of the pandemic.
The movie theater business was demolished in 2020 as movie theaters began to shutter in March of last year due to the pandemic. In the subsequent months, some locations in certain states have reopened but at limited capacity while major markets such as Los Angeles and New York City, remain closed.
