Having people here, having guests here, being able to serve, that s what the hospitality business thrives on, said Sayd.
To stay afloat, Sayd says they re applying for grants set aside for the entertainment industry. Other local theater owners are doing the same. The 93-year-old La Paloma in Encinitas is back open, but with fewer patrons. We have about 400 seats so it s easy to spread out and maintain the social distancing, said owner Allen Largent. I think a lot of people are a little hesitant to get back out. A lot of people are anxious.

ENCINITAS
People who love the historic La Paloma Theatre in downtown Encinitas are putting together a fund-raising concert Saturday to kickstart a campaign to bring the place back to its former glory.
“It’s going to be a real long-term campaign to fix the place up,” said event organizer Danny Salzhandler of the 101 Artists Colony, mentioning that the concert will likely be the first of many.
He said the group is off to a fine start with Saturday night’s “Love the Dove” event, which will star Eagles songwriter Jack Tempchin, Celtic Thunder’s Keith Harkin, anti-folk movement pioneer Cindy Lee Berryhill and local folk luminary Darius Degher.
