Ansari, an MLA from Mau Assembly, was booked last year by Uttar Pradesh Police after it was allegedly found that his wife along with her driver had been visiting him inside the jail for hours without any restrictions.
The accused had been granted bail by the High Court in July 2022. However, the Supreme Court later set aside the bail orders and observed that the seriousness of the offence had not been considered by the High Court.
