Annual matriculation examinations in Balochistan will begin on April 9 (tomorrow).
130,000 candidates will appear for the matriculation examinations.
About 400 examination centers have been set up.
QUETTA: Annual matric examinations in Balochistan will begin on April 9 (tomorrow). 
Chairman Balochistan Board said that about 400 examination centres have been set up while a supervisory staff of 1200 persons will be deployed for the invigilation of exams.
According to the board, 130,000 candidates will appear in the exam.

After discussing the third wave of Covid-19 and its effects on education at the meeting of the provincial school education and literacy department’s (SELD) Steering Committee held on Saturday, all the stockholders, including private schools associations, SELD officials and education experts, agreed on keeping the schools open until the provincial task force on coronavirus prepared its final report for the next meeting of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).
Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani convened the steering committee meeting on the instructions of Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah after the task force had advised the provincial government to close the schools for at least two weeks. However, in the meeting on Saturday, associations of private schools opposed the closure of schools. They called for continuity of educational activities at the schools. ....

A school that survived terrorist attacks succumbed to Covid-19

The low-fee Naunehal Secondary School in Karachi’s District West emerged thrice after being bombed by terrorists, but the financial crunch caused by the Covid-19 pandemic has forced it to be shut down permanently.
Located near Kati Pahari in Islamia Colony, the school had been reopened in October 2019, six years after terrorists had forced it to be closed over co-education.
Ignoring the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) initial threats, the school’s owners Abdul Waheed and Syed Latif had continued running the educational institution with the same unwavering dedication.
A few days later, however, TTP terrorists bombed the school, causing severe injuries to Latif. “At the time the incident took place in 2012, I was inside the school discussing the TTP’s threats with my friend Waheed,” recalls Latif. ....

Poor kids' hurdles rising as low-fee schools keep closing for good

After educational institutions were shut down for the second time last year in view of the second wave of Covid-19, over 300 low-fee private schools across Karachi have closed for good.
The All Private Schools Management Association (APSMA) and the All Sindh Private Schools & Colleges Association (ASPSCA) said that a majority of these schools had been running in underprivileged areas of the city.
They said owners and administrators of hundreds of other constituent schools have been approaching them for financial assistance, but the associations are not in any position to help them and save the futures of thousands of their students. ....
