During 1960s slumber parties at her family’s North End home, Mimi Maddock McMakin and her two best girlfriends would sneak away in the night in their pajamas to drive her dad’s white Cadillac around town.
“There we’d be, these three young girls driving around late at night in a giant white Cadillac with red interior,” McMakin, a fourth-generation Palm Beacher, said. “We couldn’t have been more than 12 or 13 and it’s beyond me why we didn’t think this looked at all out of place.
“But our destination was always the same: The Hut. Where else?” ....
