Parents of schoolchildren in Lehigh County protested Saturday in support of a return to five days a week of in-class learning, saying virtual and hybrid options are failing students.
About 30 people took part in the roadside rally where Mickley Road, Main Street and Schadt Avenue meet in Whitehall Township. Passersby honked as the participants held signs with phrases like, “Zoom is not a classroom,” “Schools are safe” and “I’m not a good teacher, ask my kids! Re-open full time!”
“This is about our children’s future and, again, nothing more than a choice,” said Jennifer Ortiz, an Allentown School District parent of children ages 8 and 6. “We want a choice to send our kids to school.”
