Recruitment Process Mismanagement Affecting Bangladesh Migrant Workers: Despite getting emigration clearance, around 17,000 aspirant migrant workers could not fly to Malaysia before the May 31 deadline due to alleged mismanagement in the recruitment process.
Bangladeshi Migrant Workers Missing Flights to Malaysia: Despite having the necessary documents, up to four thousand Bangladeshi migrant workers failed to go to Malaysia due to not getting air tickets, secretary general of the Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) said today.
State Minister of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury said an investigation committee will be formed to look into the incidents of distress caused to migrants heading to Malaysia and measures will be taken against those responsible.
The situation is worsened by the issuance of fake demand letters, leaving some workers stranded as their prospective employers face blacklisting by Malaysian authorities for corruption.
