TODAY January 27, 2021 The Federal Executive Council, FEC, on Wednesday approved the National Quality Policy to stop rejection of Nigerian goods exported out of the country. The approval was given at the 31st virtual Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, Abuja. Briefing State House correspondents at the end of the meeting, the Minister of Industry Trade and Investment, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, said the essence of the policy was to ensure goods exported out of Nigeria are accepted in the countries they are being exported to. According to him, “For a long time, Nigerian exporters have been suffering because of lack of quality of their goods. We felt that it was high time we actually have a policy which will create a situation whereby standard of the Nigerian goods that are exported would be raised, such that that rejection would stop. ....

The federal cabinet meeting, which started at 9am, is also being attended physically by six ministers, including those of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mohammed Bello, Industry, Trade and Investment, Niyi Adebayo and Minister of State Power, Goddy Agba. Reacting to Birma’s demise in a statement by his spokesman, Malam Garba Shehu, in Abuja on Tuesday, Buhari said: “I am deeply touched by the passing of Dauda Birma, one of the finest and most decent politicians of our time. “Birma was a disciplined and respectable politician who gave politics a good image through personal examples. “I must also state here that Dauda Birma was a committed party man that worked passionately and assiduously for the success of our party. ....
