DAILY POST had reported that Abdulsalam passed away on Tuesday morning in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
Reacting, APC Secretary, Caretaker/Extraordinary convention planning committee, Sen. John James Akpanudoedehe in a statement on Wednesday said Abdulsalm’s death was a huge loss.
“We mourn the late Abdulsalam whose passage is a major loss to Nigeria’s opposition politics and our democracy at large.
“In line with the Labour Party’s mantra as National chairman, the late Abdulsalam will be remembered for his efforts to entrench Labour Party as the party for Social Democracy and advocate for the welfare of workers, particularly the increment of the minimum wage.
“As we speak, they are on the way for his burial,” he said.
“Information on ground states that burial rites will start at the Central Mosque Minna, by 5pm. And internment will follow immediately.
“We urge all comrades in and around Minna, to kindly join all faithfuls to escort this galant soldier to his resting place,” he added.

Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, the National Chairman of the Labour Party, is dead. He reportedly died in Abuja on Tuesday morning.
Confirming his death, former National Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, Peter Ameh, said: “I’ve lost a friend of several decades. He was not sick; he even joined the early morning prayers this morning.
“This is a great loss not only to opposition political parties but to Nigerian democracy as a whole. His progressive ideas will be surely missed.”
Also, expressing shock, the Coalition of United Political Parties through its Co-Spokesperson, Mark Adebayo said: “We received the sudden death of Alhaji A. A. Salam with utter shock and total disbelief. A. A. Salam was a major pillar and voice who formed the CUPP and remained committed to its ideals until he breathed his last.

The National Chairman of the Labour Party, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, is dead.
He died in Abuja after early morning prayers, on Tuesday.
His death was confirmed by his closest friend and political associate, the former National Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, Peter Ameh.
He said, “I’ve lost a friend of several decades. He was not sick; he even joined the early morning prayers this morning. This is a great loss, not only to opposition political parties but to Nigerian democracy as a whole. His progressive ideas will be sorely missed.”
