I think it would be too easy to to suggest that a tweak to an algorithm, somehow all the disfiguring polarization in u.s. politics would suddenly evaporates. i think it absolves people of asking themselves the harder questions about the historical, cultural, social, economic reasons that have led to the politics that we have in the u.s. today. do you or your client believed that facebook had a role in january six? what is the allegation in relationship to facebook s role in the way communication an organization is taking place around that interaction? absolutely. this is a platform that has been used by individuals who are spreading misinformation, disinformation. we have foreign governments using the platform to stoke hatred and violence. but at the end of the day, it s about facebook s underlying algorithms and how the system was set up. one of our disclosures establish that facebook actually prioritize the spread ....

That needs to change. we also have transparency on the algorithm because they are opaque of what it s and how it works. they keep saying well, we tweak it this way or we fix it. tell us how. there are people who understand how to write and rewrite algorithms out there. i am not one of them. but, we have plenty of them at the washington post that would be qualified to examine it and understand how it works. that lack of transparency seems to me can be fixed. hey, the second amendment, i believe in the second amendment and i believe the second amendment says what it means. let s say there is a case that came down that upsets me. ....
