Wawaâs first public health nurse Ann Kontsheider is fondly remembered by many residents for her selflessness and dedication.
Kontsheider died last Friday. She was 92.

âWe just loved her,â Mary Anne Pearson told the Sault Star.
Pearson, who nominated Kontsheider for the communityâs first Medal of Merit award, worked with her for many years when home care and public health were under the same banner.
âShe was so kind, yet she could be naughty,â said Pearson with a laugh. âShe was no pushover. She was good to everybody.â ....

her husband of 62 years, Edward and by her “one and only” daughter, Elizabeth. She is predeceased by her parents Annabella (nee Walker) and
Andrew Teenan, and her brothers Robert and Andrew (Helen) of Dumfries,
Scotland. She will be fondly remembered as Auntie Betty by her niece, Lesley
