Tomorrow the nation will commemorate the birthday of dr. Martin luther king jr. The slain civil rights leader was actually born on january 15, 1929. He was assassinated in memphis, tennessee, while leading a sanitationworkers strike. But 10 years before that, he nearly lost his life in harlem. In 1958, at a book signing at blumsteins Department Store on 125th street, a mentally unstable woman stabbed dr. King in the chest. Joining us today is alfred howard, one of the Police Officers at the scene on that day, and here this afternoon along with him is pierre brooks. He is the son of dr.
