Provided photo BRADFORD The month of May throughout the history of the Bradford FFA Chapter has been used to highlight the chapter’s seniors. The seniors set great examples to younger members, set the tone for the years to come, and each leave behind a lasting footprint on the chapter. The May Member of the Month goes to Justin Bryan, the single senior in the Bradford FFA Chapter this year. Justin has served on the Bradford FFA officer team as Secretary and Parliamentarian in various years. He has operated a time intensive SAE for four years by managing a garden and making salsa with some of the products when everything is ready. He has remained heavily involved in the chapter ....

Provided photo BRADFORD Public speaking is something that is nerve racking for people of all ages. Speaking in front of other people is hard enough, and being good at it is even harder. FFA offers a big opportunity for students to work on their public speaking skills, and this year our chapter had four members who decided to become involved in this opportunity. The public speaking CDE our members were involved in has different levels; creed speaking, beginning prepared, prepared, and extemporaneous. Isabella Hamilton, Molly Clark, and Isabella Brewer, all sophomores, competed in the beginning prepared contest. Alexis Barhorst, a junior, competed in the prepared contest. All four of the competitors are also officers in our FFA Chapter. ....
DC 4-H Holstein Club meets, elects officers By Tasya Felver - Darke County Holstein 4-H Club Reporter GREENVILLE The Darke County Holstein Club met virtually Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021, at 1 p.m., on Zoom. At the meeting, the officers accepted their positions. Club President is Renea Schmitmeyer, Vice-President is Tyler Kress, Secretary is Alexis Barhorst, Treasurer is Tevin Felver, and Reporter is Tasya Felver. Darke County Recognition awards will go to club members Renea Schmitmeyer and Alexis Barhorst for Leadership, and Shawna and Maria Schmitmeyer for Achievement. The club voted for families to pay dues this year. Enrollment for 4-H is now open online and families were asked to sign-up as quickly as possible in case of issues. A reminder was given that the Darke County T-shirt contest entries are due by Jan. 31, 2021. ....
