Four invaluable paintings by renowned landscape artist Thomas Baines have been beautifully restored by their owner, Nedbank, and this week returned to the Albany Museum in Makhanda for the enjoyment of the public. The paintings have hung in the museum for almost 50 years. Baines, whose paintings capture scenes of 19th-century southern African history, created the four paintings between 1848 and 1849.
