Giovante Galloway, 25, of Gary, was sentenced to 16 years Wednesday after signing a plea deal in Alayna Ortiz’s Jan. 9, 2019 shooting death in the Park West apartments parking lot in Griffith. He potentially faced up to 22 years in prison. He said he will appeal.
