The task was made harder when the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) downgraded the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) to Category 2 status a ranking that prevents Malaysia’s airlines from launching new routes or adding new flights to the US.
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 24 The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (Miti) has welcomed the approval given to two new airlines to operate in Malaysia. Senior Minister cum International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said the granting of the licences to the airlines.
MYAirline Sdn Bhd (MYAirline), a newly-established ultra low-cost carrier (ULCC), is expected to be launched soon, sources said, noting that it will challenge AirAsia Group Bhd’s dominance in the budget airline industry.
