susan: alan maimon, your book came out in paperback this summer and shortly after his release, hazard, kentucky was in the national news because of flooding. i want to start by showing her audience a national news report on that situation. rain sweeping across kentucky, bettering the same neighborhood already destroyed by catastrophic flash flooding. this region has been hit harder than any of us have ever seen. many harder than ever any of us ever thought was possible. homes and businesses washed away. hundreds living in shelters, doesn t still missing. there are whole areas on the ground, there is concrete but nothing on top of the concrete. those were foundations to homes that were swept away by what was a creek. now it is this rushing river bed through the area. these people tell me they had never been flooding before. some of these had the property that i am standing on right here. the man said he rescued several of his neighbors using his excavator. ulti ....
