Health care workers at Grand Blanc area hospital honored with ‘clap out’ for strength, persistence fighting COVID-19

GENESEE COUNTY, MI – Lined up outside of the hospital’s entrance, first responders cheered for frontline workers Monday morning at Ascension Genesys in Grand Blanc Township.
Dozens lined each side of the front entrance as nurses, doctors and other health care workers started and ended their shifts between 6:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. April 26 for the “clap out” to recognize dedication and commitment to patient care while fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It’s been an interesting year. We’ve been thrown a lot of curveballs, but especially as frontline people and emergency medicine, you learn to adapt. You learn to make things work, to take care of patients,” said emergency medicine physician Alan Janssen, who worked daily 12-13 hour shifts through the earliest months of 2020. “Absolutely our world has changed.
