Early this morning. Lets just talk a little bit about the numbers here. So two Apartment Buildings, 11 units now deemed unliveable, 19 adults and 11 children with no place to go. You see nothing but flames. Reporter this video tells the story. An Apartment Building exploding into flames. Andrea poston lives next door and was there as it started. I saw the kids on the balcony screaming help me, catch me, help me, help me. Reporter from there this fire grew. At one point evacuation tones were even sounded, ordering firefighters to get out. Assistant chief Alan Doubleday says he sees fires everyday and this was a big one. We are etypically equipped to fight fire on one floor. Firefighters went to the offensive fire tack and the rescue. The rescues included pulling two people to safety by ladder from balconies. Favor victims treated for smoke inhalation. 30 people displaced heading to the holiday. That building was very pretty. They had the lights all around it. You know, so im sure everybody is devastated. I hope christmas comes for them. Many people are stoic now. But it will hit them. The red cross says replacing the lost gifts for displaced children will be a priority. We are going to provide assistance today to meet those immediate things folks have clothes, food, replacement of medical items. We will also have conversations with them about where they plan to go. The red cross is working with the families tonight. There were a number of children displaced. Metro and its Largest Union are locked in a heated and contentious contract dispute, thats where all of this is coming from. Metro workers have been telling their supervisors theyre not coming into work on friday. That is what our sources are telling us. An email has been going around telling supervisors theyre going to have to staff up and be ready to work 12hour shifts this entire weekend, just in case metro front line workers, like train operators and Bus Operators dont show up. What does that mean . Really, it comes down to the nasty blood that is just going on now between metro and its Largest Union, as these contract disputes go out. A spokesperson for metro said there have been an unusually high number of absentee request ....
