Lebanese Media Debunks Rumors Nasrallah Has COVID-19

Rumors on social media that Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah is sick with the coronavirus have not been verified. Meanwhile, Lebanese media reported Tuesday that Nasrallah has hay fever and pneumonia.
The rumors began circulating after a televised speech on May 25, marking the anniversary in 2000 when Israel withdrew from southern Lebanon, during which Nasrallah frequently coughed so hard that he could barely speak and looked unwell. He reportedly has not been seen in public since, leading to speculation on social media that he had contracted the coronavirus. Some rumors circulating on Monday night went as far as to say that Nasrallah had fallen into a coma or died of COVID-19, the Arab news website Al Bawaba reported. ....

Lebanon PM Diab declines to be questioned in Beirut blast probe

Beirut: Lebanon’s caretaker prime minister, Hassan Diab, has declined to be questioned by the judge who charged him and three former ministers with negligence over the Beirut port blast, an official source said on Monday.
Investigating magistrate Fadi Sawan has been criticised for bringing charges by influential parties including the Shiite group Hezbollah and Sunni leader Saad Hariri.
Some politicians have suggested Sawan was selective in deciding who to charge, and that he overstepped his powers by charging government ministers. Others, including the head of the Beirut Bar Association, have said the move showed courage.
Diab says his conscience is clear over the August blast, which killed 200 people, injured thousands and devastated entire districts. His cabinet, which took office in January, quit after the disaster but continues to serve in a caretaker role. ....
