Speakers, marchers at Akron rally seek gun reforms, end to violence

An energized crowd of about 100 marchers gathered Saturday at the Highland Square branch of the Akron Public Library to call for legislative action against gun violence. Assembled under gray skies for a march from the library to the courthouse downtown, the crowd responded enthusiastically to speakers lamenting gun violence and urging gun reform laws. Nina Turner, a candidate to replace U.S. Rep. Marcia Fudge in the 11th Congressional District, told the crowd that the time for action on gun reform is now. “Gun violence is a scourge on the United States of America, and we all need to do something about it,” Turner said.
