Roberts Woody Okello, the second-born son to multi-award-winning singer Esther ‘Akothee’ Akoth, died at eight months. The entrepreneur and philanthropist said in a heartfelt post, Thursday, January 7.
Reflecting on Woody’s death, her humbling beginnings, struggles as a young mother and relationship with her children, the Akothee Safaris founder said her son is buried behind a property she lived in with her daughters, Vesha Awuor, Celine Aggry, Prudence Vanpelt, and ex-husband Jared Okello.
“This is my first home, the house where I conceived my first four children; Vesha Awuor Okello, Roberts Woody Okello, Celine Dion Aggry Brown Okello and Prudence Vanpelt Okello. Singer Akothee is pleading with parents to protect children from bullying, toxic schools and unfavourable family conditions, such as divorce, as these impact on their competence and resilience. Opening up about how bullying has affected her family, the 40-year-old entrepreneur revealed that her last-born daughter Fancy Makadia was hard hit by her separation from her ex-husband Jared Okello.
“If a child tells you she doesn t like a certain school or environment, please take note of what she is saying, she could be receiving pressure from school mates, teachers etc. When my kids were still in primary school, some teachers judged them based on their family background. Some fellow students accused them of Illuminati because their mother came to school with a big black car full of foodstuffs and what they heard their parents discuss at home or read on media,” she stated. ....
