TIRUMALA: A scholarly debate over the controversy related to the birthplace of Lord Hanuman, between the Tirumala Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Vedic scholars and the Hanumad Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust ended on Thursday.
The discussions which took place at the Sanskrit Vidyapeeth ended over hours of debate between Govindananda Saraswati Swamy on behalf of Kishkinda Trust and scholars of the Pandita Parishad Committee on behalf of TTD.
Govindananda Saraswati objected to the evidence provided by TTD on this occasion. He alleged that TTD was not in favour of his argument and that theory related by the TTD was not authenticated. ....

On April 21, on the occasion of Sri Rama Navami, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), custodian of the richest Hindu shrine, unveiled “mythological, epigraphic and geographic evidence” to claim that Tirumala is the birthplace of the Hindu god Hanuman. To bolster the claim, the TTD had constituted an eight-member committee, including Sanskrit and Vedic scholars and even a scientist from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), in December 2020 to produce “irrefutable” evidence on the purported Hanuman janmabhoomi. This came after questions were raised during the special religious discourses the TTD held in June last year when participants asked why there were uncertainties about the birthplace. Tirumala which houses the shrine of Lord Venkateswara is all set to stake its claim as the birthplace of Lord Hanuman with the TTD looking determined to authenticate the same with mythological, astrological, epigraphical and scientific evidences on Ugadi, the Telugu New Year’s day, on April 13.
With an intention to unravel the myth surrounding the birthplace of Lord Hanuman, the TTD in December constituted an eight-member committee of experts to research on the subject with a special focus on Anjanadri that forms a part of the seven hills constituting the hill town. ....

Panel to frame guidelines on admission, syllabus and certification
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Executive Officer K.S. Jawahar Reddy has announced that all the Vedapathasalas functioning across the country will be brought under the purview of the Sri Venkateswara Vedic University (SVVU) in Tirupati.
At a review meeting here on Tuesday, he said the move was aimed at ensuring development of the Vedic studies and academic congruence.
“Six institutes will be brought under the ambit of the varsity soon. A committee comprising Vedic experts will be set up to frame guidelines on eligibility, selection process, admission, syllabus, courses and certif4ication. The panel will submit recommendations within a month,” said Mr. Jawahar Reddy. Bringing all the Vedic institutes under a single roof would go a long way in ....
