May 14, 2021 A group of Sonoma State students are seeking the dismissal of a film professor alleging sex based discrimination and harassment. The petition seeking the removal of Professor Ajay Gehlawat cites a hostile environment and repeated exposure to graphically violent and sexual content. Students even cited examples where Gehlawat ignored female perspectives in favor of male ones in class. Press Democrat reports at least three students have filed Title IX complaints with the school for the prevention of discrimination and harassment. In response, the school cited staff privacy rules when asked if a Title IX investigation in Gehlawat was underway. ....
