Will airlines money if these rules do change? well, they will still make money on the fees. i don t think fees will go away. they will try to charge you more and more for other choices you make. it is capitalism. if the passenger is willing to pay for it, they will keep doing it. if the passengers push back and travel demand drops, which i don t see, they may pull it back. one challenge two years ago in 2012, like you mentioned, they tried to, the government came in and said you cannot advertise a base fare without taxes and fees in that fare. they got that passed. now the airline transparency act is trying to get through congress right now. that is actually doing the opposite. it is going to make it so all the fees are broken down and it will make it more confusing for the traveler to choose which airline to fly based on price comparisons. you have two things going on at the same time. ....
