(Reuters) - Relatives of victims of a Boeing Co 737 MAX crash in Ethiopia that occurred five months after an Indonesian Lion Air disaster are stepping up pressure on the American planemaker and the federal government, according to a court filing and a letter to U.S. lawmakers.

Families have called for testimony from Boeing Chief Executive Dave Calhoun, his predecessor and other current and former employees as part of their legal case in Chicago, court documents show.
Separately, the families urged lawmakers in letter to demand that the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration turn over internal emails and documents spanning the Lion Air crash and one month after the Ethiopian crash. Together, 346 people died. ....

Boeing 737 MAX crash lawyers ask two CEOs to testify

Feb 26 (Reuters) - Lawyers for families of a fatal Boeing Co 737 MAX crash in Ethiopia are seeking testimony from the planemaker’s chief executive Dave Calhoun and his predecessor Dennis Muilenburg, among other current and former employees, according to a court filing.
The Boeing 737 MAX crash on Ethiopian Airlines on March 10, 2019, occurred five months after a similar disaster on a Lion Air flight, together killing 346 people and sparking a hailstorm of investigations and lawsuits.
While Boeing has mostly settled civil litigation stemming from the Lion Air crash, it is still facing over a 100 lawsuits in Chicago federal court related to the second crash. ....

France's Safran sees gradual recovery after crisis-hit 2020

PARIS, Feb 25 (Reuters) - France’s Safran predicted a gradual recovery from the aviation industry’s worst crisis, after seeing demand for its jet engines and services drop sharply last year.
The world’s third largest aerospace contractor said its 2020 recurring operating income fell 56% to 1.686 billion euros ($2.1 billion) as revenues fell 33% to 16.498 billion.
Operating margin dropped 530 basis points to 10.2%.
For 2021, Safran expected this key profitability gauge to recover by more than 100 basis points, with the recovery to be felt mainly in the latter part of the year.
It predicted 2021 revenues would decrease in the low single digits in percentage terms, and on a like-for-like basis. ....
