Shoukry, Greek Counterpart Discuss Regional Files in Cairo
On Sunday, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received his Greek counterpart Nikos Dendias in Cairo, where they discussed all possible ways aim to strengthen and develop bilateral relations between the two countries.
In a statement, the Egyptian ministry spokesman, Ahmed Hafez, said that the two ministers discussed a number of regional and international issues of common interest.
The two ministers expressed their appreciation for the established partnership between the two countries, and the importance of continuing to strengthen relations together in all economic, political, social and cultural fields.

Appreciation was also expressed for the continued exchange of support between the two countries in international forums, and the importance of Egypt as a strategic partner for Greece and the European Union in the southern Mediterranean and Middle Eas ....

Egypt continues to push for political solution in Libya

CAIRO: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry reiterated his country’s support in reaching a comprehensive political settlement to the Libyan crisis in a meeting with UN Secretary-General s Special Envoy for Libya Jan Kubis.
Shoukry said such a settlement should preserve the unity of Libya, ensure the exit of all mercenaries and foreign fighters from it, and preserve the capabilities of its people and its national institutions.
Egypt’s foreign minister stressed the importance of the UN-sponsored Libyan Political Dialogue Forum, which seeks to pave the way for legislative and presidential elections in Libya scheduled for December.
Shoukry also reaffirmed his country’s support for the 5+5 Libyan Joint Military Commission, which includes five representatives from each of the rival sides in the conflict. He is optimistic the commission can unify security and military institutions within Libya. ....

Why the talks yielded no progress
Ahmed Hafez, spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attributed the failure to reach a consensus at the AU-led talks on Ethiopia’s unwavering stance on filling the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) in July following the rainy season. The bone of contention in the Kinshasa talks concerned Ethiopia’s schedule for the second phase of filling the GERD reservoir with 13.5 billion cubic metres of water and preferences for mediators to resolve the impending conflict. ....
