Ban on commercial activities comes into force in Oman

The ban, which began on May 8, will run from 4 am to 7 pm, until May 15.
Muscat: Ruwi High Street wore a deserted look on Saturday, after the ban on commercial activities came into effect.
Shoe shops, garment stores, barbershops, beauty salons, jewellers, watch repair shops, mobile retailers, and many other businesses had their shutters pulled down, as part of the measures implemented by the Supreme Committee, to stop the spread of COVID-19.
The commercial ban, which began on May 8, will run every day from 4 am to 7 pm, until the evening of the 15th. Exceptions, however, have been made for some shops, offices, and people, who can continue to work under strict guidelines ....

Muscat: As Oman gears up for this year’s Ramadan, locals and expats need to follow the precautions in place to stop the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
Ramadan begins today, and the extent of the measures this year are a bit different as compared to those deployed in 2020.
Although there is a night lockdown in effect between 9pm and 4am, free movement is still permitted across the country outside these times, while last year, travel between many governorates was halted.
Similarly, despite being required to close early, all businesses in the country are now open, while many needed to temporarily cease operations during the previous Ramadan. ....
