KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 The government will allow a Malaysian’s Nigerian husband, Simon Adavize Momoh, to lawfully remain in Malaysia until the High Court decides on his legal action against the Immigration Department’s order to deport him from the country.
Simon was recently kept apart from his Malaysian wife and their two young Malaysian daughters as he had been detained by Malaysian authorities for 40 days since March 15. ....

KUALA LUMPUR, April 27 The Malaysian government today argued that the High Court should strike out a lawsuit filed by several Malaysian mothers with foreign spouses who want their children born abroad to automatically be recognised as Malaysian citizens.
But the mothers’ lawyer said that the doors of the courts should not be closed to them at this stage and that they should not be denied access to justice, and the High Court should hear their court challenge instead of throwing it out now. ....

Court says 'no' to Muda's bid for judicial review of its rejection by RoS


KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court here has dismissed a leave application by youth movement Muda in its bid to challenge the Registrar of Societies (RoS) rejection of its application to be registered as a political party.
The application for leave to initiate judicial review was rejected after Justice Mariana Yahya allowed an objection by the Attorney General s Chambers (AGC) during online court proceedings on Thursday (Feb 4).
When contacted, AGC Senior Federal Counsel Ahmad Hanir Hambali said the court had found that the applicants - Muda leader Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and 12 others - did not appeal their case to the Home Minister first, and therefore had not exhausted the avenues for appeal provided under the Societies Act 1966. ....

Court denies MUDA's bid for judicial review against RoS decision not to register party


KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 4): The High Court has dismissed an application by Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman’s newly formed Malaysian United Democratic Alliance s (MUDA) bid for a judicial review against the goverment’s decision not to register the party.
Judge Datuk Seri Mariana Yahya ruled that the former youth and sports minister’s party did not utilise all avenues before commencing court action after the Registrar of Societies (RoS) rejected the bid to be registered as a political party.
Justice Mariana said that the party should have sought an appeal with Home Affairs Minister Datuk Hamzah Zainudin within 30 days of the rejection instead of filing an appeal with the courts. ....
