Meet Roosevelt High’s 2021 Portland Rose Festival princess, Zemzem Hussen

Zemzem Hussen, a senior who plans to study nutrition at Oregon State University, will represent Roosevelt High School on the 2021 Portland Rose Festival Court. The daughter of Ahimed Bati and Badatu Korbino, Hussen was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. She was chosen to represent Roosevelt on Portland Public Schools’ Student Equity Council and Black Student Union.
The court announcement came Thursday during a festival Zoom meeting that included fellow candidates Rose Davies, Audrey Nelsen and Alexia Valdez (all seniors), as well as Hussen’s 2020 predecessor on the court, Dyllan Newville. ....
