The members of ʻAhahui Ka’ahumanu, or the Ka’ahumanu Society, attended a ceremony on March 17 to honor Queen Ka’ahumanu, the first wife of King Kamehameha the Great. The Conversation talked to Pauline Namuʻo, the society’s president, to learn more about their mission.
March 17 marks the birthday of Queen Kaʻahumanu – a beloved Kuhina Nui, champion of women’s rights, and female surfer. To commemorate her birthday, Queen Kaʻahumanu Center will celebrate with mele, hula and protocol by ʻAhahui Kaʻahumanu Society followed by Kamaʻāina Nights live local music by Kamalei Kawaʻa.
