Indonesia’s government has established a new Investment Ministry, as the president initiates another cabinet reshuffle.
The new ministry is the result of upgrading the bureaucratic status of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) a government agency mandated to boost domestic and foreign investments into a fully-fledged government ministry.
The government has targeted a total investment realization of 900 trillion rupiah (US$62.2 billion) for 2021.
On April 28, 2021, Indonesia’s government established a new Ministry of Investment to enhance the ease of doing business in the country. In addition, the Ministry of Education and Culture has now merged with the Ministry of Research and Technolog ....

Batam, Riau Islands (ANTARA) - At least 140 businesspersons and investors from Singapore joined a webinar on investment opportunities in Indonesia s tourism sector, organized by the Indonesian embassy in Singapore on Wednesday.

The webinar provided information on Indonesia’s highly-prioritized tourism development projects in Tanamori Labuan Bajo, Mandalika, and Borobodur temple and investment opportunities in the country.

During the webinar, businesses and investors from the city state were also invited to contribute to Indonesia’s efforts to revive its tourism sector, which has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, Suryo Pratomo, said in a press statement that ....

With a US$9.8-billion investment deal to develop an integrated electric vehicle (EV) battery industry, and the world s largest nickel reserves, Indonesia is taking another step toward its goal to become a major hub for the EV industry.
The agreement with LG Energy Solution of South Korea, the world s second-biggest EV battery producer, came at the end of a pandemic-battered 2020 and represents a major vote of confidence in the local EV sector. It also is another milestone on the journey to reduce the country s greenhouse gas emissions by 29% by 2030.
Electric vehicles are more environment-friendly. They have lower emissions than fuel-based vehicles, and could reduce air and noise pollution, State-Owned Enterprise Minister Erick Thohir said during an EV test-drive and an inspection of a charging station in Bali on Jan 2. ....
