Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday defended the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and said that the Union Territory will get its statehood at an appropriate time.

A bill to merge the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) cadre of all-India services officers with the Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre was passed by Lok Sabha on Saturday by a voice vote.
The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2021 has already been passed by Rajya Sabha.
The statutory resolution, opposing the ordinance which the bill has replaced, was rejected by the House. An amendment too was defeated by a voice vote. ....

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir cadre of IPS, IAS and Indian Forest Service (IFoS) has been merged with the Arunachal, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre by the Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the Centre.
According to a notification signed by President Ram Nath Kovind and issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice, the members of
IAS, IPS and Indian Forest Service for the existing cadre of Jammu and Kashmir will now become part of AGMUT. ....
