The 606th Air Control Squadron successfully used TORCC during the May 13-21 Astral Knight 21 exercise to relay integrated air and missile defense and C2 information to to pilots, including directions for missions and threat awareness, according to the 31st Air Wing.

WASHINGTON: The Air Force demonstrated both a new communications network and a mobile C2 system to link US services, allies and partner nations for the first time during this year’s multinational Astral Knight exercise in Europe. The capability will be key to the service’s emerging Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS).

A tiny prototype drone has been developed by BAE Systems and the first 30 units have been sent to the British Army as part of a trial.
The engineering giant collaborated with UK drone maker Uavtek to develop the nano “Bug” drone, an unmanned aerial vehicle that weighs about the same as a standard smartphone and boasts a 40-minute battery life and two-kilometre range.
The drone can fly in winds of more than 80kph. It was the only nano-drone able to cope with the uncompromising weather during a recent Army Warfighting Experiment event hosted by the Ministry of Defence’s Future Capability Group.

The Bug is a nano-Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) weighing 196g – similar to the weight of a smartphone – with 40 minute battery life and a 2km range. It boasts a stealthy low visual profile and the ability to fly even in strong winds of more than 50mph. It was the only nano-UAV able to cope with the uncompromising weather during a recent Army Warfighting Experiment (AWE) event hosted by the Ministry of Defence’s Future Capability Group.
James Gerard, Principal Technologist at BAE Systems’ Applied Intelligence business said: “We delivered the Bug in partnership with UAVTEK, an SME that designs and builds UAVs from its workshop in the Cotswolds. Our experience in developing large volumes of secure hardware means we were able to help the team turn the excellent design into a real product which our Armed Forces can use. This kind of co
