Good morning. So this meeting will now come to order. Today the subcommittee is holding a hearing entitled oversight of doe, during covid19 pandemic. Members will be participating in todays hearing finally in person or remotely via video conferences. And just as a reminder weve had some technical difficulties in making sure that our remote video was operating up to standard. As part of this hearing, the microphones of members participating remotely will be set on mute for the purpose of eliminating inadvertent background noise. Id like to begin by thanking Ranking Member fleischman for his collaboration in putting the bill before us this morning. There are, of course, areas of disagreement. Almost entirely in the immigration area. I do believe, however, that most of our bill represents a bipartisan agreement, but i dont want to minimize the disagreements on immigration, they are significant and they are important. Before discussing the bill, i would like to acknowledge the departments personnel who work on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic.
