Wendy hopes the budget's commitment to aged care will help her partner, but says she's 'doubtful'


Thea Caldbeck-Moore and Wendy Hora have been together for 40 years.
Ms Hora is now her partner s carer, as Ms Caldbeck-Moore waits in line to be approved for a home care package.
“I would love it to materialise tomorrow because we ve needed this package way back in August when Thea first had her brain injury,” Ms Hora told SBS News.
“The tumour has upset her executive function, so she doesn’t cope very well with day-to-day tasks.”

The aged care royal commissioners have split over whether the federal department of health or a new specialised agency, the Australian Aged Care Commission, should lead major reforms identified in their final report released Monday.
The chair, former Federal Court judge Tony Pagone, QC, declared there is “little point in repeating the same process again by asking the same department that has overseen the current failings to build and run the new aged care system”.
Former CEO of Medicare Australia and Australian Public Service Commissioner Lynelle Briggs differed with Mr Pagone, arguing the establishment of an aged care commission would delay urgent reforms. ....
