Gov. Jay Inslee and WA State Lottery director Marcus Glasper will announce COVID-19 vaccine incentives today: The governor s office has declined to say in advance what exactly these incentives will be, but it comes as the state is trying to reach populations who are either skeptical or haven t had the chance to get the vaccine (around 43% of all Washingtonians are fully vaccinated). Looking at other states incentives, I m guessing we might be in for a cash prize and perhaps some full-ride scholarships to public universities here in the state. And maybe he ll toss in a lifetime of free Washington state parks passes if he s feeling freaky. I doubt the guv will give away guns, however. ....

“Now that everyone is coming out to see, I want to bring a different energy to the square. People will be so mind blown when they come here,” said Mileesha Smith, 30, of Minneapolis while cleaning at George Floyd Square on Sunday, March 14, 2021.

A handful of business owners crowded before a restaurant television Tuesday, bracing for the verdict.
George Floyd died just a few yards away under the knee of police officer Derek Chauvin last year, turning their neighborhood into an international beacon for racial justice and police reform. They anxiously waited to see whether Chauvin would face consequences.
This is crazy, said Sam Willis Jr., who wore a nervous grin and paced the length of his Just Turkey restaurant. I hope it goes well. I think he s got to get one [conviction on the charges]. He s got to go down for one. I don t see him getting acquitted. ....
